Scene From a Commercial Cat Breeder:

What Is A Puppy Mill?   *   What Can I Do About It?   *   Laws/Legislation   *   ACTION ALERTS!

Cats in crates stacked three high and crowded in to a small area.

It's not just puppies who are commercially "farmed," but kittens, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, lizards, snakes, and any other animal bred in "volume."

This photo shows "Feline Breeding Stock" in an unnamed Wisconsin "pet facility." Cats and kittens are packed into "travel crates" that are designed to limit movement and for short-term occupancy, then the crates are stacked and packed into a small space, exposing adjacent animals to potential disease.

This particular location has space to house about 90 animals comfortably and properly. One the day these photos were taken in October 2003 the number of animals "housed" was in excess of 200.
