Jo the miniature schanuzer with a heart murmur was purchased at the Thorp Dog Auciton in March 2007.       Since 1999, the Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project has been working hard to educate the public about the miserable conditions in pet mills, pet shops and other pet facilities. Through our programs and services we also provide education to law makers to encourage tougher state laws to govern the breeding and sale of pet animals of all species. At one point, such a law was in our grasp, but politicians first gutted the self-funding provisions and then eliminated it altogether on the pretext of 'balancing the budget.'

The goal of stricter regulation of so-called "pet mills" and "backyard breeders" may once again be within our reach, but we need your financial support to continue our work!
