They need your help....

That strained smile comes from loving animals and trying to figure out how to make already overtaxed resources stretch to cover the unexpectedly large number of dogs needing help.

"The vet bill came back for the 15 they are keeping. The Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project spent $1260 to get the rest of their 15 fixed, dentals, etc! We expect our expenses to be at least an additional $8,500. There are just so many more than we were first told, that we'll be burning the midnight oil trying to find places to put them all until we find permanent new homes for them. Any support and assistance with sheltering, placement, adoption, and expenses would be gratefully accepted."

First Things First:

HELP! The Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project initially expected, and was prepared for, between 20 - 30 dogs from this intervention. Instead, the final number is 64. Due to the unexpected number of dogs, limited shelter space, and lack of physical neglect or abuse, the dogs will be removed from the property in measured increments, as we have places for them to go.

Even with the help of our Drive To Save Lives partners Sheboygan County Humane Society, Washington County Humane Society, and Coulee Region Humane Society, our resources are seriously over-stretched! To donate money toward vet expenses, etc., please see our Donations section below.

If you're interested in fostering, sheltering, or adopting, please see our Photo Album, which will open in a separate browser window, for faces, ages, and breed heritage of the dogs rescued through this intervention. Then return to the appropriate section of this page (To Shelter or Foster or To Adopt) for further instructions.

Those dogs who have already been adopted will have an "ADOPTED!!!" notation on them. "SCHS" marks those dogs who are at the Sheboygan County Humane Society, "WCHS" marks those who are at the Washington County Humane Society, and "CRHS" dogs are at the Coulee Region Humane Society. Those without any notation are currently still onsite. Just click on any of the thumbnails on the album pages for a larger view of that photo, and there are arrows at the bottom of each larger photo page if you'd like to click through that way. Due to the circumstances of this rescue, for the most part, we do NOT have any more info available than is contained in the captions.

ALL animals will be spayed or neutered by the Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project before being released to any shelter or adopter.

To Shelter or Foster:

Roman, a St. Bernard mix guy.       As our primary "sheltering partner," the Sheboygan County Humane Society will be placing the Adams dogs with interested shelters or rescues. If you have foster homes or shelter space open and think you can find good, loving Forever Homes for some of these dogs, take a look at the SCHS Rescue/Shelter PartnershipForm (PDF). Please note that this file is in pdf format and will require you to have the Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. If you don't already, it's a free download from the link below:

Download SCHS Breed Rescue Form (PDF)

Download Acrobat Reader

To be considered for the SCHS Shelter/Rescue Partnership Program, you must fill out the form in its entirety and mail or fax, along with copies of your adoption application, adoption contract, and proof of insurance, if applicable, to:

Sheboygan Co. Humane Society
Attn: Adams Dogs
3107 N 20th Street
Sheboygan, WI 53081
FAX: 920-208-2204

Note: we CANNOT ship dogs. If your shelter or rescue is out of the area, you will be responsible for transportation arrangements and costs.

To Adopt:

Violet is a 6 month old husky mix       You've looked at the photos and think you might like to adopt one of these dogs? Wonderful! Many of our rescued dogs are huskies or husky mixes, so you might want to read all about their history, personalities, and unique characteristics on Adopt A Husky, Inc.'s "The Siberian Husky" pages.

If the dog you have chosen has the "WCHS" notation on its photo, please visit the Washington County Humane Society website for information on how to proceed. If you find the "CRHS" notation, please visit the Coulee Region Humane Society for adoption information. Be sure to let them know that you are interested in the "Adams Dogs."

If the dog you have chosen has either the "SCHS" notation or no notation at all, please take a look at the Sheboygan County Humane Society's SCHS Adoption Form (PDF). SCHS's ultimate goal is to get these dogs into good, loving, Forever Homes with people who realize that dogs are lifelong companions that do come with some responsibilities. (Please read If you think you can provide such a home, please complete and mail or fax to the address above (please reference the "Adams Dogs"). This application is also a pdf file; if you don't already have the Acrobat Reader installed on your computer, you can download it free:

Download SCHS Adoption Form (PDF)

Download SCHS Breed Rescue Form (PDF)

Again, please note that the first page of this form explains SCHS's adoption fees and requirements. Applications will be processed in the order they are received. Because SCHS tries its best to match the animal to the home, submission of the adoption application does not automatically guarantee adoption approval.

Due to the circumstances of this rescue, we cannot ship dogs. All adopters are requested to come to the shelters in person to meet the animals and take them home.

Adoption Fees
Puppies Under 6 months of age $135.00
Adult Dogs 6 months to 6 years $110.00
Senior Dogs Over 6 years $55.00

Please feel free to email or phone the SCHS (920-458-2012) for further information.
