Scenes From a Puppy Mill: Goodbye, Mama.

A newly purchased puppy says goodbye to his mother, whose fur is stained orange from the rust in her cage.

Pretty Penny Kennels, Plymouth, WI — A newly purchased puppy says good-bye to his mother. The pup, named Scratch, had altogether too short a life due to a congenital disease from poor breeding. Nothing further is known about the mom, who probably never had a name.

Remember the rusty wire mesh in the previous photo? Mama Westie's fur is stained from the rust in her cage. See The Story of Scratch: A Courageous Little Dog for the photographer's impressions of the conditions these dogs were kept in, and also for more about Scratch, the pup.

Pretty Penny Kennels is described in detail in A Visit To A Wisconsin "Puppy Farm" and in WTMJ's report, "Inside a Puppy Farm"
